Meet Sureeta Karod

I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, and after completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Victoria, I moved to the East Coast. After spending several years living in Montreal, I decided it was time to come back home.

Working various jobs that provided little in terms of purpose and accomplishment, I decided to go back to school and complete a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I completed my studies in 2018, and I hold the designation of Registered Clinical Counsellor through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Becoming a counsellor was a longstanding dream of mine, as I have always been passionate about advocating for and helping others. What I didn’t know was that my journey to become a counsellor would provide me with a better understanding of who I was as an individual. In order to provide clients with a safe therapeutic environment, I believe it’s important for a counsellor to be open and genuine themselves.

The prospect of going to counselling and talking to a stranger about your personal struggles can be a scary one. My approach is to first work on building a rapport with clients, so that they feel safe and comfortable opening up during therapy sessions.

The Story Behind
Healing Tree Counselling Services

As a true Vancouver Islander, I have always been drawn to the healing potential of nature – that’s where my inspiration for Healing Tree Counselling Services came from. I wanted to provide a counselling service that encompasses all aspects of well-being, including our interconnectedness with the earth.

Here on the Island, we are lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, surrounded by everything Mother Nature has to offer – fresh air, trees, mountains, and ocean. I believe the more we allow ourselves to acknowledge and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings, the easier it becomes for us to remain grounded and focus on achieving our goals.
